Ahern defends decision to buy €40m jet

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has defended the Government's decision to purchase a new jet to fly ministers to meetings around the world.

Opposition politicians slammed the decision in the Dail this morning, saying it was disgraceful at a time of massive cutbacks and under-funding in health and education.
