Architects call for rural policy clear-up

The Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland has urged the Government to clear up ambiguities in housing policies for rural areas.

The institute said the National Spatial Strategy is trying to concentrate urban over-spill into small villages and towns, despite financial incentives encouraging people to build in the open countryside.

Spokesman Toal O'Muire said the State will face an increasing infrastructure bill unless it can sort out the problem.
