A man arrested in connection with the Omagh bombing was due in court today.

Seamus Daly, 32, was arrested in Monaghan yesterday and is due to appear at Dublin’s Special Criminal Court.

A garda spokesman said he was arrested in connection with “investigations into the bombing or matters arising from it“.

Daly, from Co Monaghan, was detained at Carrickmacross garda station after a warrant was issued by the Special Criminal Court.

Twenty-nine people died and more than 200 were injured in the 1998 bomb attack on the Co Tyrone town.

The only person jailed in connection with the bombing so far is Colm Murphy, who is serving a 14-year sentence for conspiracy to cause it.
