Cowen declares support for weapons inspections

Foreign Affairs Minister Brian Cowen has said that he will support further weapons inspections in Iraq if the UN and IAEA inspectors request more time.

Speaking at an EU summit in Brussels, Mr Cowen said the union does not want war but he stressed that the only person who could ensure war is avoided is Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.
