Journalist dies in Belfast

A former Daily Express bureau chief in Belfast has died after a short illness.

Bob Brady, 71, was in charge of the newspaper’s Northern Ireland coverage at the height of the 30 years of violence.

Mr Brady, who died last night, was married with two sons and lived in north Belfast.

The widely respected journalist freelanced for a period after leaving the Express and at one stage also worked for the BBC.

His late brother Colin was the Daily Telegraph’s correspondent in Ireland for many years.
