Govt announces €150m for road schemes

The Government has announced plans to invest a further €150m in road construction schemes this year, bringing the total investment for 2003 to €1.13bn.

Projects to benefit from the funding include by-passes in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan; Dundalk, Co Louth; Kinnegad, Co Westmeath; Monasterevin, Co Kildare; Cashel, Co Tipperary and in Waterford city.

The Boyle to Carrick-on-Shannon road in Co Roscommon and phase one of the Ballina to Bohola scheme in Co Mayo will also benefit.

Most of these projects have already been approved, but were stalled last year due to Government cutbacks.
