New leader replaces Johnny Adair

Loyalist UDA paramilitaries in Belfast have elected a new leader to replace out-cast Johnny Adair.

In a statement issued last night the organisation said they would restore order to Protestant areas of the city.

The man said to have taken over from Adair is believed to have been a close associate before he left his "C" company unit during the bitter power struggle.

Some of Adair's supporters and his wife fled to Scotland earlier this week as the loyalist feud threatened to claim more lives.
