Garda and Army chiefs meet to discuss Shannon

A meeting between Garda and Army chiefs about increasing security at Shannon airport is underway.

The gardai requested the deployment of the military after two attacks on a US plane in the past week.

The cabinet is also discussing the situation.

The army was last night given a "threat assessment" by gardai on possible future incursions following two attacks on an American military aircraft at the airport in recent days.
