Motorists warned of icy road conditions
Motorists are being warned to drive with extra care this morning as icy conditions make driving in many parts treacherous.
Most main roads are being gritted, but back roads are said to be very dangerous.
Orla Rapple of AA Roadwatch is warning of several blackspots.
"Cork city is particularly bad this morning. There is treacherous road conditions around Donegal and Cavan, both the Wicklow and Sally gaps are closed this morning and there is a light covering of freezing snow around Galway.
"Monaghan is bad again after snow fell last night and the roads have yet to be gritted. They are especially bad on minor routes of the N2.
"In Kilkenny main roads have been gritted but all back roads are treacherous and in Co Kerry the county bounds around Killarney are particularly dangerous."
