CIE to meet Brennan to discuss restructuring

Unions at CIE are to meet with Transport Minister, Seamus Brennan, later this afternoon to discuss proposed restructuring of the company.

Both SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Worker's Union were invited to the talks by the Minister after work stoppages last month over the restructuring plans.

The union says that the Minister has failed to consult with them about the privatisation of certain routes in Dublin and the break-up of CIE.

They insist that studies from other countries have shown that privatisation is not the solution to the problem within public transport.
