The jury in the trial at the Central Criminal Court of a man accused of raping a woman in an alleyway in her Co Cork home town has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict.

The five women and seven men deliberated for almost seven hours before telling Mr Justice Diarmuid O'Donavan they were deadlocked on day-nine of the trial.
