Irish MEP to join EU visit to Iraq
Irish MEP Patricia McKenna is due to travel to Iraq with more than 30 of her parliamentary colleagues today to meet with UN officials and aid workers in the war-threatened country.
The MEPs will also witness first hand the situation of ordinary Iraqi people who have been impoverished by 12 years of crippling UN sanctions. Children have been worst affected by the sanctions and will most likely be the most affected should the US and Britain press ahead with their plans for war against Iraq.
