SF urges Govt to stand up to hospital consultants
Sinn Fein has urged Health Minister Micheál Martin to stand up to hospital consultants.
Party spokesman Caoimhghin O'Caolain said consultants have become a law unto themselves within the Irish health service. Mr O'Caolain said Minister Martin should stop these people from abusing their positions and force them to treat people on long waiting lists with fairness.
"We need this minister to tackle the inequities in the health service where these very consultants are riding on the backs of people dependent on the public health service," he said.
