Equipment belonging to a demolition contractor was set on fire in Derry last night, apparently because the owner refused to pay £1,000 (€1,514) every week in protection money.

A low loader worth £10,000 (€15,140) was destroyed in last night's incident, while attempts were also made to set fire to a digger.
