Community groups express partnership concerns
The community pillar of the social partnership talks has expressed grave concerns about the partnership deal currently under negotiation at Government buildings.
The Community Platform, which represents groups working against poverty and disadvantage, said the proposed deal makes no mention of promised proposals to tackle social exclusion.
Spokesperson Frances Byrne said: "There is nothing specific on the table to improve the lives of those living in poverty, people with disabilities, older people, lone parents, travellers, women, etc."
Ms Byrne said she remains hopeful that the Government will honour commitments given by the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and the Tanaiste Mary Harney.
