Search continues for abducted brothers

A major search is underway in Limerick to find the two brothers who were abducted on Thursday night.

Eddie and Kieran Ryan, aged 19 and 20, were kidnapped by a masked assailant near their home in Limerick last Thursday.

A local army outfit was requested by the gardai to assist in the search sometime after 1pm today.

Forty troops of the Limerick army guards rendezvoused at Mayorstone garda station in Limerick and searched four main areas around the old dump site.

It is not yet clear if today's search was called on foot of information received by the gardai on the whereabouts of the two missing brothers.

The gardai and the army are expected to pack up and leave the old dump site area soon as light is now failing and it has been nearly two days since Eddie and Kieran Ryan were last seen alive.

It is thought the abduction comes following an ongoing family feud.
