Lawyers for Adair expected back in court

Lawyers for jailed loyalist, Johnny Adair, are expected back in court this morning to argue against his re-imprisonment.

Adair's supporters are suspected of responsibility for a string of bombings and a hoax attack on other members of the UDA over the past two days and nights.

Last night, a hoax bomb was thrown at the home of a leading spokesman for the UDA, Sammy Duddy. He and his wife dived for cover as they watched a man throw an object at the house in Rathcoole, north Belfast.

Earlier in the day, Mr Duddy had blamed loyalists who support Johnny Adair, of three bomb attacks on bars in the north of the city on Wednesday night. Mr Duddy says there is no prospect of an end to the feud in the short term.

In court today, lawyers will argue that Adair's human rights were breached by the Northern Secretary's order sending him back to jail. Although an independent assessor has been appointed to adjudicate his case, Adair's lawyers will argue, that because the appointee was selected by the Northern Secretary, it does not have the required impartiality.
