Trimble says today's talks are 'preliminary'

Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble met Bertie Ahern before today's Downing Street talks between the Taoiseach and Tony Blair.

Speaking outside the Irish Embassy in central London Mr Trimble said: “This is not intended to be and is not going to be part of what the (British) Prime Minister calls an inch by inch negotiation.
