Bus and rail workers meet to decide on strike
Public Transport workers are meeting today to decide whether or not to call off next Monday's planned four-hour work stoppage.
The National Bus and Rail Worker's Union is considering its response to an invitation from the Transport Minister for talks on the break up of CIE, which would probably take place next week.
They are angry at Minister Seamus Brennan's plans to break up CIE into three companies, and say they have not been properly consulted with.
At noon today the NBRU meets to discuss its response to the Minister's letter.
It will then consult with SIPTU, the other union representing workers in the sector, before deciding on its position.
The NBRU says it is clear there are still "serious differences" of approach to the problem.
