Adair challenges back to prison order
Human Rights representatives were today monitoring loyalist terror chief Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair’s High Court challenge to a government decision to send him back to jail.
Lawyers for the ousted Ulster Defence Association commander are applying for a judicial review of Secretary of State Paul Murphy’s order.
The feared Shankill Road paramilitary was returned to prison earlier this month after a deadly loyalist feud with former comrades in Belfast claimed two lives.
Adair’s legal team are expected to argue the decision was illegal and based on information which was never disclosed.
