IBEC and ICTU to respond on partnership

The employers' body IBEC and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions are due to hold separate meetings today to discuss their responses to the Government's social partnership proposals.

The compromise deal was presented to the two parties on Monday morning after they failed to negotiate a successor agreement to the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness.

The proposals include a 7% phased pay rise over 18 months, a 10% increase in the minimum wage, an increase in statutory redundancy entitlements and commitments on union recognition.
