Minister for Education to respond to ASTI decision
Minister for Education Noel Dempsey is expected to respond later this morning to the decision of the ASTI last night to re-ballot its members on the supervision and substitution deal.
The row centres on whether or not teachers are paid for being on call for supervision and substitution duties.
ASTI President, PJ Sheehy, says it was clear from talking to his members that there were serious differences over the deal's interpretation.
"Members of the county committee were informed as to what the content of the talks were about over the last couple of days, then they brought their own individual experiences from their own regions to bear on the matter and the views of their own members.
"It was clear that there were serious problems with implementation on the ground with this."
