Work-to-rule begins in Co Westmeath hospital

The Irish Nurses Organisation (INO) has begun a work-to-rule at St Mary's Hospital in Delvin, Co Westmeath.

The union said the dispute centres on the redirection of funding for 10 staff nurse positions to care assistant positions at the hospital.

St Mary's received the money from the Department of Health last March.

The INO said the decision to redirect the funding has created acute staff shortages.
