Young man dies in Waterford stabbing

A young man has been fatally stabbed in Waterford in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place in the Ballybeg drive area of the city at around 3am.

The victim was stabbed in the neck and was removed to Waterford Regional hospital where he died after undergoing emergency surgery.

Gardai are treating the death as suspicious and the scene has been preserved for technical examination.
