Police seek more time to quiz feud murder suspect

Police investigating the murder of a man linked to an ongoing feud between loyalist paramilitaries today sought an extension to allow them to continue questioning a 23-year-old.

Jonathan Stewart, 22, was shot dead in Manor Street, North Belfast, on December 27.

A police spokeswoman said house-to-house inquiries following the shooting were continuing today.

A 64-year-old man arrested on Sunday afternoon in connection with the murder was released without charge, she said.

However he is to be reported to the Director of Public Prosecution with a view to prosecution in relation to terrorism offences, the spokeswoman added.
