PSNI sergeant awarded MBE
The police sergeant who led the underwater search team which recovered the bodies of three generations of the Greene family during a search off Co Down, is being honoured in Britain's New Year's honours list.
Sergeant Elvin Leech is receiving the MBE for coordinating the recovery of the sunken fishing vessel 'Tullaghmurry Lass'.
A father, grandfather and grandson each died in the tragedy earlier this year, before the boat was eventually found.
Mr Leech is one of seven Northern police officers being honoured, as well as former Ulster Unionist Lord Mayor of Belfast Jim Rogers, who's getting an OBE.
