Labour call for banning on cloning

Labour this afternoon are leading calls for the introduction of legislation which would lead to the banning of cloning in Ireland.

Presently, human cloning is officially not outlawed in Ireland.

The call comes as scientists across the world await prove that a cult claims to have created the world's first cloned human.

A scientific group affiliated with the religious sect, Clonaid, maintains that the baby-Eve-was born on St. Stephens' day.

However, politicians today are warning that Ireland could be open to this kind of biological experimentation and that legal avenues need to rule out human cloning in this country.
