Almost 40,000 work permits issued in 2002

The Government has reported a rise in the number of work permits granted to non-EU workers this year.

Figures from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment show that it issued almost 40,000 permits this year, a rise of more than 3,000 on the figures for 2001.
