Calls for full restoration of services in Monaghan

Sinn Fein's Caoimhghin O'Caolain is calling for the full restoration of obstetric services to Monaghan General hospital.

Mr O'Caolain says these reports do not go far enough in their recommendations, as they centre only on the provision of emergency services.

He says the people of Monaghan have been fighting for such services at length.

"The review teams recommendations in relation to protocol are in my view only tinkering at the system. Welcome though they be they are nevertheless still only focusing on emergency obstetric cases only.

"The people of County Monaghan clearly recognise and argue for restoration of full obstetric services."
