Fake Christmas goods seized in Belfast

More than £100,000 worth of counterfeit goods destined for the Christmas market have been seized in Belfast, police said tonight.

Officers netted more than 1,500 DVDs, videos, Gameboy cartridges and clothing when they swooped on a house on Shore Road in the north of the city.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokeswoman said a man was arrested and later released.

A report is now being prepared by the Director of Public Prosecutions, she added.

Meanwhile, drugs with an estimated street value of £17,000 were recovered by police in Co Fermanagh.

The stash of cocaine and cannabis resin were found when police stopped a car on the main A4 road.

A 34-year-old Bangor man was arrested and later charged with possession of class A and class B narcotics with intent so supply.

He is due to appear in court tomorrow.
