The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, has announced the appointment of Mr Gerry Mangan as Director of the new National Office for Social Inclusion.

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, has announced the appointment of Mr Gerry Mangan as Director of the new National Office for Social Inclusion.

Mr Mangan is the current Chairperson of the Council of Europe Committee for Social Cohesion and represents Ireland on the EU Social Protection Committee.

The National Office for Social Inclusion is one of the new institutional structures being established as part of the revised National Anti-Poverty Strategy (NAPS).

The Office will have a number of key functions in relation to the NAPS.

These include supporting and monitoring the implementation of the Strategy, developing a more effective poverty-proofing process, and developing a formal data strategy and research programme.
