Government must clarify teacher agreement, say FG
As preparation for discussions continue over the teacher's supervision issue, the Minister for Education is being called on this evening to clarify whether the Government was involved in a "reinterpretation" of union agreements.
Fine Gael's spokesperson for Education Olwyn Enright says the issue must be resolved as a matter of urgency.
Deputy Enright has now asked the Minister for Education how the reinterpretation of the agreement came about.
She says that the schools have suffered severe disruption because of the supervision dispute over the last two years.
A teacher's union, the ASTI, want to know whether teachers will be paid for supervision hours after making themselves available even if they are not needed under the agreement .
