Eithne Fitzgerald retires from politics

Former Labour Party Junior Minister Eithne Fitzgerald has announced her retirement from politics.

She failed to secure a Dail seat in the last two general elections.

Ms Fitzgerald, who contested seven elections in Dublin south and topped the poll in 1992, served as Junior Minister in the Departments of Finance and Labour Affairs between 1993 and 1997.
