Medical firm to cut 82 jobs

Further job cuts have been announced for the west of Ireland.

The company Biomedical Research Ltd are to shed 82 jobs at their operations in Galway and Donegal.

The majority of the jobs will be lost at Derrybeg in West Donegal at their factory which manufactures muscle toning devices such as Slendertone.

Six of the jobs will be lost at BMR's research and development facility in Galway.

The company has said the redundancies are necessary in order to ensure its long-term viability.
