Banks should contribute more to security costs
The Chair of the Public Accounts Committee has called for a review of the amount of money paid by banks to the state for the service of armed guards, used to escort the banks' cash vans.
Fine Gael's John Perry said he will be asking the comptroller and auditor general to review current arrangements. Deputy Perry says the tax payer is expected to cough up a huge contribution of the costs, which have risen sharply in the past few years. He said the banks' contribution is too little.
