A man is due to appear in court in Downpatrick today charged with possession of a gun with intent to endanger life.

A man is due to appear in court in Downpatrick today charged with possession of a gun with intent to endanger life.

The man, aged 20, will appear before magistrates in Downpatrick following his arrest and the discovery of a gun in Silverstream Avenue in Bangor, Co Down yesterday morning.

Acting Assistant Chief Constable, Maggie Hunter, linked the arrest to continuing loyalist activity.
