The Labour Party has accused the Government of costing the Irish taxpayer €75m because of pre-Budget scare stories about the special savings incentive scheme.

Party spokesperson Joan Burton said the scare stories about a cap being placed on monthly savings caused many people to increase their payments ahead of the Budget.
