The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland (CCI) has given a cautious welcome to the Minister for the Environment's decision to increase motor tax to fund the local roads programme.

The Chambers of Commerce of Ireland (CCI) has given a cautious welcome to the Minister for the Environment's decision to increase motor tax to fund the local roads programme.

However, CCI is calling on the Minister to ensure that the funds raised by the increase will be properly ring-fenced to pay for the maintenance of non-national roads rather than being used to compensate for under-funding in other areas.
