Taxi-drivers' partners to present case in Brussels

Families Advocate Immediate Redress, a delegation of widows and partners of deceased taxi-drivers are to present their case to the European Parliament in Brussels over de-regulation.

The group claims ''overnight de-regulation'' has caused hardship to hundreds of women and children - and they will be seeking retribution in the European Parliament on Tuesday next.

The move follows a decision by Minister for Transport, Mr Brennan, to establish a new agency to regulate the taxi, hackney and limousine industry.

Over 8,000 new taxi licences were introduced in November 2000.
