Budget will affect better-off, says economist

Today's Budget will make people worse off rather than better off according to an economist with Price Water Coopers.

Economist Dan Farrel says that the people who will suffer the most will be the higher earners and also the business sector.

Mr Farrel said that Minister for Finance Charlie McCreevy had tough decisions to make in the economic climate that exists at the moment.

The economist says the proof in rich people being affected has been the deduction in tax-based incentives which would have attracted high earners in the past.
