Trade unionists and TDs to protest at Dail

A protest group made up of trade unionists and TDs will march to the Dail tomorrow to demonstrate against Government cutbacks.

The group will demand that the Government brings back the First Time Buyers Grant and extends the medical card scheme.

Independent Socialist TD Joe Higgins has warned the Government that there will be serious social unrest if the Minister for Finance favours the rich in his budget.

Dep Higgins has said that the flow of wealth must be reversed in the direction of the less well off in our society.

If the Government "doesn't reverse the balance of wealth back in the direction of the majority of people and away from the minority of the super-privileged who have benefited hugely from this Government, I believe there will be an outcry and this protest movement will continue and intensify".
