Teenager dies in Derry boating accident
A teenager died today following a boating tragedy in the North. The 17-year-old youth was with two men on Lough Neagh when their boat sank amid stormy weather just off Ballyronan, Co Derry.
The others, aged 24 and 40, managed to swim to shore. A major search operation was launched involving the coastguard, an army helicopter and police.
The teenager was located close to shore and paramedics gave him first aid before taking him to hospital.
The two men who survived were treated for shock and hypothermia.
