The Irish Postmasters' Union will begin balloting its members today on the compromise deal struck last night in the long-running dispute at An Post.

The union's executive has recommended acceptance to its 1,500 members.

They will no longer have to sort mail and the deal also sees them being paid for early morning work.

John Kane of the IPU said the ballot should be complete by Monday. He said he is confident that his members will support the deal.
