The Department of Agriculture has uncovered five new cases of BSE this week, bringing the total number of cases so far this year to 303.

The Department of Agriculture has uncovered five new cases of BSE this week, bringing the total number of cases so far this year to 303.

The new cases were detected in Meath, Cavan, Cork, Laois and Louth, all but one of them through an increased active surveillance programme initiated in July 2001.
