IRA peace moves 'frustrated by British govt and unionists'
IRA moves to advance the peace process have been frustrated by the approach of the British government and unionists in recent weeks, according to an internal Sinn Fein document.
The internal briefing paper, which was obtained by PA News and which will inform Sinn Fein’s approach to round-table talks starting in Stormont tomorrow, says IRA attempts to bolster the peace process have been undermined by the focus on its disbandment.
The document, which has only been read by up to eight senior members of the party, including Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness, is also highly critical of the British government’s decision to suspend power sharing.
