The Taoiseach and Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy are expected to face down back bench anger at the abolition of the first time buyer's grant at a meeting of the Fianna Fail party getting underway around 12pm.

In the Dail this morning Labour leader Pat Rabbitte said the Fianna Fail backbenchers are ignoring many other cutbacks announced. He asked the Taoiseach if he is prepared to concede to them on the issue of the first time buyer's grant given the level of dissent.
