Dana accuses Govt of supporting EU abortion plan
Irish MEP Rosemary "Dana" Scallan has claimed that the Irish Government has signed up to an EU regulation that will fund abortions in poor countries.
The regulation is contained in the EU's Action on Reproductive and Sexual Health Rights programme.
Ms Scallan said that under the programme, the EU "will use taxpayers money from member states including Ireland to fund an aid package to the poorest countries in the world and it will include abortion."
She said this is in complete conflict with the Irish Constitution, which outlaws abortion in Ireland.
