Man charged with doorstep murder

A 39-year-old man is due in court tomorrow accused of the murder of a Belfast man on his doorstep more than a year ago.

Arthur Berryman, 46, was stabbed to death in front of his wife after she answered a knock at the door of their home on October 31 last year.

A masked man burst into the house on Imperial Street, East Belfast and struck the woman on the face.

He then stabbed Mr Berryman repeatedly, leaving him to die at the scene.

The man charged with the killing will appear before Laganside Magistrates Court in the morning.

A 21-year-old woman is also expected in the dock, charged with attempting to pervert the cause of justice.
