Students get walking for Chernobyl kids

Around 50,000 college students are expected to take part in 10km walks throughout the country today to raise money for children affected by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster in the Ukraine.

Around 50,000 college students are expected to take part in 10km walks throughout the country today to raise money for children affected by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster in the Ukraine.

The fundraiser was organised by the Union of Students of Ireland, which hopes to raise €500,000.

Around 10,000 students are expected to take part in the Dublin walk, while campaigners Adi Roche and Ali Hewson are expected to attend the Waterford event.
