IFI workers to prevent removal of stock
Former workers at Irish Fertiliser Industries in Arklow, Belfast and Cork are to take action today to prevent stock being removed from the company’s factories.
The move is designed to protest the axing of 620 workers - when the Government put the company into liquidation - who have still not received their statutory entitlements.
Simon Walsh, a spokesman for the workers, said: "We’re entitled to a minimum of eight weeks’ notice or eight weeks' pay in lieu of notice.
"Secondly, we’re entitled to statutory redundancy, which has not been forthcoming, our RP1s, which is a notice of redundancy, have not been issued, our p45s have not been issued."
